How to block an app from accessing the internet on Android device

For one reason or another, often we have to block internet access to certain applications. Android's primary functions do not really allow such action to succeed, but with some firewall applications, you can do it easily.

Whether on your smartphone or your tablet, some applications may be consuming high data without you really have the ability to control them. In Android, there is a function of imitate downloading or sending data from some applications in the background. However, there is a difference between limit and block.

Also, it may happen that you do not want to receive messages or notifications from applications such as Whatsapp, Viber, Skype or Facebook Messenger. Rather than having to cut directly off your data connection or Wi-Fi connection, it is possible to restrict the incoming or outgoing connections to certain applications of your choice tightly. To do this, you just need the free application  "NoRoot Firewall". There are other similar apps like Netguard or Mobilwal, but we will describe here the application "Firewall without root " which pretty well does this job.

NoRoot Firewall, what is it?

This application like any other application firewall is primarily a safe direction. Its purpose is to monitor the slightest attempts to inbound or outbound connection of your device and alerting you to them. This protects you against unwanted connections or against persons or malicious applications trying to collect information without your knowledge.

Another function directly related to that quoted above is the ability to block internet access to certain applications only. It makes it simple and quick:

Download, install and run the application "NoRoot Firewall"
In the "Applications" tab, browse the list and identify the applications
you want to block incoming or outgoing connections and.
Click inside of the two squares to allow or block Internet access to a particular application, with the left square for incoming connections and the right one for outgoing ones.

When you see the red cross, it means that access was blocked. The green line indicates that you authorize the application to make the connections restriction. When you leave the box blank, attempts to access the relevant applications will be listed in the "Pending Access" tab, so waiting for your permission

There is one last step to complete the process: go to the Home tab and click the "Start."
